My favorite store, I stop whenever in the area. I live in western nd. There are so many people in the area who will have to travel 2 hrs to shop if this closes!
I used to like this store a lot
those days are gone now.

This JCP in Wichita Will Likely Close
I am not sure 100% but it sure looks like there is not enough merchandise to support an ongoing operation for this Wichita JCP. I hear that they will start working with appliances, that may cause some issues for Sears.

is jcpennys in cary nc closing in 2017
who knows? what location will close first? is cary gonna be affected with jcp closures?
To be closed first
The sad thing is I suspect that the Rocky Mount, NC store will be amongst the earlier rounds of store closures as they like 'Sears Holdings' and 'Bed, Bath, & Beyond' will be closing stores either due to "performance" or "lease ending" reasons (The... — read more

Have you shopped at JCPenney lately?
Paying 60 bucks for a pair of pants made by an 8 year old in Bangladesh, is not a good buy. I can go to the Van Heusen outlet mall in Howell, and buy the same slacks for 17.99. This is why JCPenney will die just like Sears and the rest. And Van... — read more
Retail Meltdown In Indiana
Internet shopping is only wrecking America, if your idea of America is "going to the mall". Malls are a 1960's concept whose time has come and gone. The large department stores that anchor those malls have been declining for many years. I'd bet that... — read more
Millennials of Kentucky
I'm surprised they have 140 stores left. Odd that they would have any expectations about Millennials spending money in their stores. Millennials really don't have any money.
Bismarck store
I hope the Bismarck store won't be affected by this. I get my jeans and shorts from there because they're high quality made. Is there a list somewhere where I can find out?
Doesn't make any sense at all.
We lost JCPenny in the next town. Have to drive a lot further if I want to shop at a Penny's or go online. Now we are losing K-Mart in our town. It doesn't make sense since the only place to shop is now Walmart. In the meantime the town that is... — read more
they just HAD to pull up stakes
My JCPenney once existed in a mall and I went there a lot. They they left it and opened a store at some newer outdoor strip center. I've been there exactly two times. I still prefer the mall but now this one is a joke. Nothing to do there now but eat... — read more
BUT...
Everyone overlooks the No. 1 retailer: QVC. Last year's junk at next year's prices. Nice shipping and handling charges support low cost junk profits.
Downhill Slide for JCP
JC Penney has been going downhill for years. There's hardly ever a lot of people in their stores and they never have Really good sales. They have 5-7% off sales and at the most 15% off once in a while.
Trend/Closings
Unfortunately this trend with department store retail has been going on for awhile. The mall era of the late seventies and eighties is slowly coming to an end. It sure won't help Trumps promise for more jobs.
It's been a year since the Morristown,TN Penney store closed
So sad that JC Penney(along with Kmart and Sears) are dying. It's been a year since the Morristown,TN Penney store closed, which was replaced by D–k's Sporting Goods. But, on the flip side, this is probably move to keep them in the black and move... — read more
It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
There is a big evolution going on that won't simply end with the death of stores like JC Penney. It seems like there will always need to be a place to go look at the object. Touch it, see it, hear it, try it on. I am a big Amazon shopper, but I... — read more
Change is coming
I like buying from Amazon. I never enjoyed shopping. Going to the mall feels like a chore. When I do go to the mall I am in and out. Which is why I like buying online. I click on what I want, and in two days, it's in an Amazon locker. I can even get... — read more
The department stores began to crumble
For all of you with short memories, this has nothing to do with politics. Trump didn't cause this, Obama didn't cause this and Bush didn't cause this. It also didn't have as much to do with the internet as many claim. By the late 1970s, the... — read more
They need to stop stocking only small sizes
Well, the average size an American woman wears is a 16. That's average. Stores like Pennys stock sizes 16 and lower, most clothes in the 4-8 range, and wonder why they have to close stores. I don't even go to brick and mortar stores to buy clothes... — read more
