Here is my prediction - Big 5 will close all stores in 2018. It's likely this will happen in the first or second quarter. If you look at what happened with the competitors, you'll figure out that we cannot sustain our business. Even Nike is having issues today, not to mention us. Sport's stores in general are hurting because the customer has some fatigue, also prices are going up but the economy does not follow the increases in prices.
From the management standpoint, it almost feels the leadership has gave up here at Big 5. Keep in mind, this is just my opinion and Big 5 can continue to work for many ears (this would make me happy).
So, let's see what 2018 brings and if my prediction about closures is going to pan out.
