2 extremely and totally INCOMPENTENT CEOs and their teams of people from FAILED companies helped bring down this company.

Julian C. Day and James Gooch.

And BOTH walked away with MILLIONS after destroying the company

The BOARD of Directors directly bore the responsiblity for hiring these 2 incompentents. Anyone with common sense knows that you do NOT EVER put hedge fund managers and accountants with absolutely NO EXPERIENCE IN RETAIL in charge of a RETAIL company.

News flash, USAT: the TRS-80 was not a laptop computer!

Now that I've gotten that off my chest...

A sad farewell to one of my favorite childhood hangouts. All the fun things I played with as a young electronics geek came from there - "100-in-1" electronics sets, "P-Box" project kits (Goofy-Lites was my all-time favorite), electronic parts of all kinds, the spectacular theory and circuit books authored by Forest M. Mims III, and of course the Battery Club - you could come in once a month, get your card punched and get one battery of your choice, absolutely free!

One thing I won't miss about RS is their relentless drive to get one's personal information. They often asked for my entire address just to sell me an 89 cent transistor to replace the one I blew while hooking something up incorrectly!

All in all, it was a great local place to get electronic supplies and kits in the era before the easy and cheap Internet-driven mail order companies we have today. To be honest, I haven't set foot in the place much since they devolved into a cell-phone and satellite-TV outlet, pitching subscriptions more than hardware. However, I will always have fond memories of what was.

RIP, "The Shack!"
