This is the trend. Wolverine Worldwide owns the brand, they had a plan to close 100 Stride Rite stores last year (2016).

The store will close 3/26/2017

Went there tonight to buy shoes for my kid, and they were gone. :(

I think it is a very dumb idea when it's about children's shoes that you have to try on your kid first. I miss my Stride Rite store, now we have to shop for shoes in Nordstrom, which i personally hate
